Probable Cause of April 5 Outage
AMP's investigation of an outage affecting 15,000 customers April 5 has revealed that a squirrel crossed lines in the vicinity of Oak Street and Lincoln Avenue, resulting in the operation of system protective equipment. A related, secondary event at Park Street and Clement Avenue is still under investigation. The April 5 press release follows.

Outage Under Investigation
Alameda, California, April 5, 2011 - Power was restored within 12 minutes to the approximate 15,000 Alameda Municipal Power customers affected by an outage this morning.
At this time, the cause of the outage remains under investigation; however, the focus of AMP's attention includes lines in the area of Park Street and Clement Avenue.
